Have you ever walked through a city hundreds of times, only to realise you’ve never really looked at it?

That’s exactly why we created #FIND31KK.

Inspired by the delightful Little Humans of Penang initiative, where tiny figures transformed ordinary streets into a city-wide treasure hunt, we wanted to create something that encourages people to slow down, explore, and rediscover Kota Kinabalu with fresh eyes.

Only this time, it’s the Helolokal way.

Instead of simply visiting places, we invite you to notice the little details—the corners, the stories, the hidden gems, and the businesses that make our city special.

We’ve hidden 31 little #FIND31KK explorers across Kota Kinabalu, each carrying its own unique clue number. Some are easy to spot. Others might make you walk past them two or three times before you finally smile and say…

“Oh! There you are!”

Because discovery is never about rushing.

It’s about curiosity. It’s about adventure. It’s about seeing your own city differently.

At Helolokal, we believe every destination has stories waiting to be discovered—not just the famous attractions, but the cafés tucked away in side streets, the public spaces we often overlook, the heritage landmarks, and the little moments that make a city memorable.

#FIND31KK is our invitation for everyone—locals and visitors alike—to step away from the screen for a while, head outdoors, walk a little slower, and experience Kota Kinabalu through a different lens.

Because sometimes, the greatest discoveries are hiding in plain sight.

Every time you discover one of our 31 explorers:

📸 Take a photo of the clue.

📱 Post it on your social media.

Include these hashtags: #Helolokal #FIND31KK #ClueXX (Replace XX with the clue number you’ve found—for example #Clue1, #Clue15, or #Clue31.)
